Ugly cats

Standard

Here are my two ugly cats and my regular cat – well regular minus the vision in her right eye.  I guess I don’t really have any “normal” pets.

Princess Penelope

I found Princess Penelope many years ago.  She had come out of a storm drain and looked brownish grey.  She was wet and had a very red, irritated eye.  I had another very elderly boston at the time and knew nothing about cats.  Of course, no one was interested in helping this cat and I felt something tugging at my heart.  A little history is important here – my dog, Petey, always liked cats and all cats would do is hiss at him.  I was walking Petey that day and he practically dragged me over to her.  They touched noses for the longest time and I was hooked.  If Petey liked her I liked her.  She had passed the test.

I took her to the vet the following Monday and they explained her eye was ulcerated and there was nothing they could do.  She was un-spayed and had no microchip.  All I could do is advertise she was lost and wait.  I got her a litter box and the relationship began.  As you can see, no one ever claimed Penelope and she became Princess Penelope.  She acts like a princess and walks with her tail in the air because she’s so beautiful, of course.

Her likes are salsa or anything spicy, wheat bread from Subway and playing hide and seek in the shower (when the water is not running).

About 6 years ago I was at my weakest mentally and emotionally.  I was pregnant with Lucy Grace.  I had just lost my beloved boston terrier, Petey, earlier in the year and was ready for another one around the house.  Motherly instincts were flowing, as well as other hormones.  While I wasn’t  throwing up we ended up with two boston terriers. They happen to be brothers and cannot figure out which one is Alpha.  Apparently two male terriers are one of the worst kind of behavior scenarios.  You’ll get no argument from me.  We call them the ugly cats, B-1 and B-2 or Norman and Kevin.  They are a trip.

Do any of you have boston terriers?  I would love to hear your stories of bostons you have or have known.  Boston Terriers really do make good pets so remember Boston Terrier Rescue.   The Humane Society of the United States is also a way to find your local humane society if you would like a pet or know of a pet in trouble.
