Buckingham Nicks album cover 1973

I heard *Big Love and **Go Insane today. Seeing them performed reminded me of the extreme talent of Lindsey Buckingham. Such beautiful guitar playing. Did you know he didn’t have guitar lessons and doesn’t read music?  That’s amazing to me!

Below I have included the lyrics to Big Love and a link to one of the best live YouTube video of the song.

*Big Love

Looking out for love

In the night so still

Oh I’ll build you a kingdom

In that house on the hill

Looking out for love

Big, big love

You said that you love me

And that you always will

Oh, you begged me to keep ya

In that house on the hill

Looking out for love

Big, big love

(Oh, oh, oh, oh)

I wake up alone

With it all

I wake up

But only to fall

Looking out for love

Big, big love

Just looking out for love

Big, big love

[Instrumental + oh, uh, oh, uh, oh, uh, oh, uh…]

FADES OUT

*Suban theater Beverley Hills April 2011

I think we all know why he’s listed as one of the top 100 guitar players in the world.  One of the really great things about Lindsey is his passion for these songs and all the songs he does.  He puts himself into every song.  Doing that makes the song and his performances ever greater.

Rumours, Fleetwood Mac‘s most popular album (went platinum 19 times!), is written about most recently in a book entitled Making Rumours: The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album, by Ken Caillat. There is a fascinating history here and I can’t wait to read this book to see what else may be revealed. I guess at this point there’s not much left, but I like reading about Fleetwood Mac anyway.

**Go Insane (See live video of Go Insane)

Two kinds of people in this world

Winners… losers

I lost my power in this world

Cause I did not use it

So I go insane

Like I always do

And I call your name

She’s a lot like you

Two kinds of trouble in this world

Living… dying

I lost my power in this world

And the rumors are flying

So I go insane

Like I always do

And I call your name

She’s a lot like you

So I go insane

Like I always do

And I call your name

She’s a lot like you

She’s a lot like you

She’s a lot like you

She’s a lot like you…

Powerful song!  What does it mean?  I think it describes how he compares all the woman who have come in and out of his life since Stevie, but they all pale in comparison.  They’re a lot like her, but still not her.  Everyone says it’s also about his old girlfriend Carol Ann Harris and he feels regret about how the relationship ended.

One of my hopes in developing this blog is to share with you the many things I enjoy so that you may enjoy them too. I love sharing cool information with people who appreciate it. I like pinning on Pinterest, keeping track of my high school friends, college friends and family on Facebook and don’t tell anyone, but I sometimes re-shelve books at the library because I enjoy it.
